Listening to the transcript about Kleinsmith, it made me recall a time years ago when I was, for a time, a CHS for the FBI. I have tried to put it out if my mind altogether, considering what it involved.
I was asked to make audio recordings of telephone conversations with certain people. I was given a device to use, and was told they would pay my long distance phone charges.
They came to my house to interview me, and pick up the recording device. Then they called a few days later and made an arrangement for me to meet them in a nearby city to receive payment. I met them there and was paid in cash.
The next month when I got the bill for the remaining phone charges, which amounted to several hundred dollars, they never followed through with payment, and my phone ended up being disconnected for non payment.
Kyle, do you think I could get the transcripts of my work for the FBI if I filed a FOIA request? This was in the mid 90's. I am thinking I should document this.
I appreciate your pointing out that this holiday, and others, are based on gratitude. Yes, we in America are very thankful for our freedoms and blessings.
My father served in WWII in the Navy in the South Pacific, and his ship took kamikaze attacks.
Then in 1971 when I was "drafted" for the Vietnam War, he supported my decision to be a conscientious objector. There is more to that story for another time.
